Protect your future with our easy 5-step process.
At Expunge VA, we are criminal defense attorneys with over 35 years of experience. Our time in courthouses throughout Virginia allows us to quickly and efficiently get you from the day your charges are dismissed to the day that your clean record is actually clean and invisible!
Many people have had criminal charges before in their life, and many of them are NOT convicted criminals. Your charge may have been dismissed, you may have completed a diversion program, the prosecution may have asked for a nolle prossequi or "declined to prosecute". You may have even gone to trial and won!
And yet, you may wonder why are you bring asked by a potential employer about that charge on a background check. Or when you apply for an apartment. You need an expungement.
An expungement is the process of asking the court to essentially seal and destroy the public-facing records of your now-dismissed criminal charge. That means things like it will no longer appear on the court's public website, your fingerprint record with the police will be destroyed, police records with your name on them are deleted. It is the last part of undoing your criminal charge and most people do not realize that IT DOES NOT HAPPEN AUTOMATICALLY!
What we help you do is simple:
1. We get the information on your charge and determine if you are eligible to petition for expungement.
2. We prepare the expungement petition and file it for you.
3. We get you all of the information you need to properly get your fingerprints taken.
4. We wait with you for 60-90 days for the report to be returned to court.
5. We appear in Circuit Court (with you if needed for a felony...) on the day your petition is set to be heard and get your expungement order entered!
That's it. No more answering annoying questions about something from your past, no more being ghosted by a job because of a years old arrest. Just you finally enjoying the benefits of the clean you record you earned and deserve.
Expungements are actually not expensive! Relative to the long-term cost of having a public criminal record, expungement is a low-cost way to protect your future earnings and opportunities. Generally, you can expect $750 - $2,000 depending on which court and the kind of charges. A more detailed explanation is below...
